Welcome to our website! Here you’ll find information about Who we are and What we do. You can also check out some of our upcoming events. If you want to find out more, there are loads of ways to Get Involved with EWB Queen’s. If you have any other questions about us, please don’t hesitate to contact us at queensu@ewb.ca.
If you happen to be passing through the ILC and love FREE chocolate, keep an eye out for our eggstraordinary tasty surprises! Egg shells will be hidden all over the second floor and can be exchanged at the main entrance for some delicious Fair Trade chocolate. We will also be accepting donations to help fund our very first overseas volunteer!
Are you a socially conscious consumer? Interested in knowing more about Fair Trade products in Kingston?
This coming Monday, March 15th, Queen's OXFAM will be hosting a Fair Trade Fashion show at Clark Hall Pub. It is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Fair Trade options as well as how this system can help put a dent in global poverty. Queen's EWB will be hosting a booth on Fair Trade education and impact. Doors open at 7, show begins at 8. Entry is Free, so come out and enjoy a few drinks in good company for a great cause!
QPID and EWB are trading places this week and we're excited to receive QPID at Member Learning! Victoria More and Kim McCrory will tell us a bit about Queen's Project on International Development (QPID), which is an organization unique to Queen's and older than EWB Canada. Then we'll participate in a really cool pictures-based workshop called "What is Development?". This session affords a special opportunity to learn about other perspectives on and approaches to development, and we are obliged (and interested!) to know about these alternative schools of thought. Hope to see you there!
There will be an opportunity to talk with a member of the EWB National Youth Engagement Team this Thursday! Courtney Macauley Edwards is a former chapter president at Carleton University and is currently volunteering at the National Office as one of 4 members of the Youth Engagement Team. If you're interested in the Queen's Youth Engagement program, what other chapters around the country are doing, and how we can improve our outreach, this is a great opportunity to learn!
This week we will rethink the Canadian education system - or any formal education for that matter - with a critical perspective. The follow-up is then to ask “How does our system influence our role in the context of education in international development?” Mike Campbell will lead this important discussion.
