A Week to Redefine Engineering!
Our goal is to create a week that has a wide-ranging and profound impact on the views of engineering students here at Queen’s University by motivating them to critically examine what their engineering degree may be lacking.
Events include: Panel Discussion, workshop with returned EWB volunteer, design competition. For more info, check out this website!
We believe that engineers should:
• Strive to serve the communities within which they work, promoting local and global justice
• Be motivated to understand how justice is linked to science and technology
• Consider technical, but also social and culture aspects when implementing a design
The Faculty of Applied Science strives to produce graduates that...
“... understand the need for interaction between engineering, technology, social sciences, physical sciences, health and biological sciences, humanities, business/commerce and law”
– Faculty of Applied Science Strategic Framework 2012
What can we do to help make this a reality at Queen’s? Do students (past and present) realize their social responsibility as engineers? Are they environmentally and culturally aware? We hope to dive in-depth into some of these questions. We imagine our week may be challenging and controversial, but always thought-provoking.
